What this policy covers. Makai Technologies, Inc. as a company, and this website.
Every product we ship has its own policy, written for what that product actually does rather than for the company in general. A game that shows adverts and a marketplace that verifies identity documents have almost nothing in common, and one document trying to describe both ends up describing neither. Where a product policy and this one overlap, the product's governs for that product.

The short version, for this site. No accounts, no logins, no advertising, and no analytics that identify you. What follows covers the company: what we hold when you email us, what our host records, and your rights.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Makai Technologies, Inc. ("we," "us") is a Florida corporation in the United States. We build the Makai boat charter marketplace and a small line of games.
We are based in the United States, so if you write to us from outside it, your email reaches us here. Support correspondence is the only personal information we ever hold, and we hold it only to answer you. Data collected by the advertising network inside our games goes to Google, not to us — section 5 explains that in full.
This policy covers only this website and our games. The Makai app and marketplace processes personal data in order to function — accounts, bookings, payments, captain licence and certificate verification, and tax reporting — and is governed by its own privacy policy at themakaiapp.com/privacy. Nothing in this document describes or limits how the Makai app handles your data.
2. What we collect through the games
We collect nothing ourselves. Our games contain:
- no third-party analytics or advertising SDK of ours beyond the ad network named in section 5;
- no record of anything that identifies you — our games note how a level went, never who played it;
- no user accounts, logins, or profiles operated by us;
- no game servers that receive your play data;
- no access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
Our games send nothing to any server of ours, we build no profiles of players, and we sell your personal information to no one. We do not combine anything from our games with data from the Makai app — they are separate products and we keep them separate.
The advertising SDK is the exception, and it is a real one. Our games display ads in the free game, and the ad network collects data directly — it does not pass through us, but it does happen inside our app, and we are telling you about it plainly. See section 5.
3. Your game progress
Your progress — levels completed, stars earned, relics recovered, and your settings — is saved locally on your device. We cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes that data.
If you have enabled your device manufacturer's own backup service (such as iCloud Backup or Google's backup for apps), your device may include our game's saved data in that backup. That backup is controlled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us, and we cannot access it.
4. Purchases
Our games are free to play in full. They may offer purchases that remove advertising or provide in-game convenience. That transaction is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see and never receive your name, billing address, card number, or any other payment details.
The store tells our app only that a purchase completed, so the game can hand over what was bought. Apple's and Google's handling of your purchase is governed by their own privacy policies.
5. Advertising in our games
The free portion of our games shows advertising served by Google AdMob. Ads appear between levels — never during one. Buying the game removes advertising permanently.
To serve and measure ads, Google collects information directly through the AdMob software inside our app. That typically includes your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device type and operating system, coarse location derived from IP, and which ads you were shown and interacted with. This data goes to Google, not to us. Its handling is governed by Google's privacy policy and Google's advertising terms.
We do not receive any of it. We see only aggregate earnings reports — totals, not people. We cannot tell who you are, and we never match ad data to anything else.
Your choices
- On iOS, we must ask before the advertising identifier can be used to track you across other companies' apps and sites. If you decline, you still get ads, they are just less targeted, and nothing in the game is withheld or degraded for saying no.
- In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we show a consent prompt before any personalised advertising, and you can refuse or change your mind later in the game's Settings.
- On any device, you can limit ad tracking in your system settings — iOS under Privacy & Security, Android under Ads.
- Buying the game removes advertising and the ad software stops loading altogether.
Our games are not directed at children, and we do not enable interest-based advertising for users we know to be under the applicable age of consent.
5b. Game Center and Google Play Games
Our games may offer optional leaderboards and achievements through Apple Game Center or Google Play Games Services. These features are optional and the game is fully playable without them.
If you choose to use them, the platform — Apple or Google — handles your gamer profile, your display name, and your scores under its own privacy policy. Makai does not operate these services, does not store the resulting scores on any system of ours, and receives no personal information from them.
6. If you email us
If you write to us for support or any other reason, we will have your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. We use it only to reply to you and to fix the problem you told us about. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share it. We keep support correspondence only as long as it is useful for resolving the issue and for our own records.
7. This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
The site is hosted by Vercel, and web fonts are served by Google Fonts. Like essentially all web hosts and content networks, these providers may process standard technical request information (such as your IP address and browser type) in order to deliver the page to you and to protect against abuse. That processing is governed by those providers' privacy policies. We do not receive, store, or analyze that information.
8. Children
Our games are suitable for a general audience but are not directed at children. We collect no personal information from anyone ourselves, and we do not enable interest-based advertising for users we know to be under the applicable age of consent (see section 5).
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has somehow provided us with personal information — for example, by sending us an email — please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to its processing — for example under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, or the CCPA/CPRA in California.
We honor these rights fully. In practice, because we hold no personal information about players, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or erase. If you have emailed us, you may ask us to delete that correspondence at any time. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the revised version here and update the effective date at the top. If a future release of one of our games ever collects data — which is not our intention — we will update this policy before that release ships, and describe plainly what changed.
